Plastic Lens Coatings

Hard Coatings:
Lens Hard coatings act as a protective coating and enhances the performance and longevity of plastic Lenses.

 Benefits of Hard Coatings:

» Scratch Resistance: Hard coatings significantly increase the scratch resistance of plastic lenses, which are naturally softer and more prone to damage than glass lenses.
» Durability: These coatings enhance the durability of lenses, allowing them to withstand daily wear and tear without compromising visual clarity.

Anti-Reflective Multicoat (AR) Coatings

Anti-reflective coating (also called AR coating or Anti-Glare coating) is a thin, multi-layer coating that eliminates reflections from the front and back surfaces of eyeglass lenses and is about 5X more scratch resistant than a normal Hard Coat.
An AR coating lens can increase the Visual Light Transmittance (VLT) to over 99%.

Benefits of AR coatings:

» Making your lenses look almost invisible. This helps others focus on your eyes, not on any reflections from your glasses.
» Eliminating glare caused by light reflecting from your lenses.
» Increases VLT to over 99%. Providing better vision for night driving.
» Offering more comfortable vision for reading and computer use.

Hydrophobic Coatings
A hydrophobic coating (water proof coating) is a thin layer applied to the surface of eyeglass lenses that reduces the ability of water and moisture to adhere to the lens. This causes water droplets to bead up and roll off, preventing streaks and smudges from forming.
Hydrophobic coatings are particularly beneficial for individuals who are frequently outdoors or those living in humid or rainy climates.
They are often combined with other coatings, such as Anti-Glare.

 Benefits of Hydrophobic Coatings:

» Water Resistance: The primary benefit of a hydrophobic coating is its ability to repel water. Whether you're caught in the rain or just dealing with humidity, these coatings keep your vision clearer by preventing water from lingering on the lens surface.
Easy Cleaning:
Hydrophobic coatings also resist fingerprints, smudges, and dust. This makes your lenses easier to clean and maintain over time, reducing the need for constant wiping.
» Extended Durability:
Hydrophobic coatings can add an extra layer of protection, making your eyeglass lenses more resistant to everyday wear and tear, including minor scratches.
